Release Notes - Strict Search

This update adds strict search to Linkidex. When selecting various filters, users can now choose if they want their search results to include links that satisfy any of the selected filters, or all of the selected filters.

How It Works

Users can now toggle “strict search” on and off. The button for strict search is in the top right of the search links page next to search details.

Search results include any link that satisfied any selected filter by default. If a user selects a tag “Spicy Food”, they will see links that are tagged with “Spicy Food”. If a user then also selects “Guy Fieri”, any link that is tagged with “Guy Fieri” will be added to the search results.

When strict searching, if a user selects “Tag A” and “Tag B”, only links that are tagged with both “Tag A” and “Tag B” will be added to the search results.

Desktop View Strict Search

If you filter by something that a link can only have one of (for example a link can only have one category, or only belong to one organization or your personal links) then your search results will only include links that have the selected somethings. Selecting multiple categories for example will filter your search results to only include links that belong to one of the filtered categories.

The language within search details has been updated to communicate all of this. If you are ever confused, just hover over search details and it will describe how your current filters are working.
