Release Notes - Open Graph Meta Tags - Auto Title & Description
Overview
Linkidex can now autofill a given URL’s title and description based on its Open Graph Meta Tags (OG tags).
Details
Clicking “Autofill Details” will tell Linkidex to fetch a given URL’s OG tags. If the URL has OG tags, Linkidex will populate the ‘title’ and ‘description’ fields for you. If the URL does not have OG tags or Linkidex was unable to parse them Linkidex will display a notice “Unable to autofill this Url’s details.”

What are Open Graph Meta Tags?
Open Graph Meta Tags are bits of code one can put in a website that provide additional information (metadata) about that particular website or webpage. For example, when you share a URL on social media or certain messaging platforms, the link will sometimes get replaced by a nice title, description, and / or photo. OG tags power this. The Open graph site can be found at https://ogp.me/
Not every site will have OG tags, and just because a site has OG tags doesn’t mean they are meaningful. If and when this happens, a link’s title and description can be edited just like normal.
